Did you know that brushing alone misses 75% of your mouth? I really had no clue! I assumed if you did a good job with the brush that you would be at least getting somewhere around 80% clean…but only 25% blows my mind. I also did not realize that 50% of children will have a cavity or filling between the ages of 5 and 9. 1/2!
I am taking part in an Oral Care Challenge with my family.  We will be using Listerine and Reach products to help instill healthier habits for our family.  It just takes a few minutes a day for a complete oral care routine. A complete routine includes brushing, flossing and rinsing.

To complete the challenge my family and I will just need to brush, floss and rinse every day, twice a day for three weeks.  I know we do a decent job, but I can tell you that I know that it is not happening everyday.  Our challenge will end on May 5th.  At that time I will be blogging about how our challenge went.

I was sent some tips Dr. Kaneta Lott, DDS who is a pediatric dentist about ways to help the kids during our challenge.

One way is to brush with the kids.  My girls love to mimic the things I do.  By brushing with them they will see just how important mommy thinks brushing is.  I also learned to make it fun!  Maybe play a song that we all like and brush while we listen and do some goofy dancing.  Reward systems are another way that is suggested to help make this a habit.  Kids love to earn stickers and see progress displayed on a chart.

We received an assortment of adult and children’s products from the makers of LISTERINE® and REACH® to facilitate our challenge. No compensation has been received.
