Hey, it’s been a minute…

If you’re still here reading this, thank you. I know it’s been quiet on the blog, and I wanted to finally take a second to update y’all on life, work, and all the wild in between. Remember, I have no concept of time and can lose track of everything super quick.

The truth is, I’m still fighting a ton of health issues—it’s been a very long and exhausting road, and some days it kicks my ass. But I’m still here. Still fighting. Still doing the hard things.

In the middle of all that, my photography career has shifted in a way that feels so right. I made the decision a few years back to move away from photographing families and instead focus on what’s always made me the happiest: dogs. Especially dog sports. I am living for the bitey-bared teeth faces, the action shots, the energy, and the bond between dog and handler. Capturing that is my favorite kind of work and I have found my people!

I’m also still writing—just not for myself as much the past few years. I’ve spent a lot of time writing for other sites, but I’ve recently stepped away and want to bring more of my voice back here to NotSoAverageMama.com. This blog has always been where I let my real self speak, and I miss that connection.

Dog training? Yep, still doing it! That part of me isn’t going anywhere. And as for my own dogs, they’re still thriving even if they have all entered the senior stage and beyond. Molly is around 17-18 years old! Plissken and Greta, the LGDS are still going strong in their senior years, although I do think Plissken may be reaching the final stages of life. Furiosa is still working as my service dog and continues to be my lifeline on the hard days. She’s absolutely incredible. I couldn’t ask for a better partner.

And in case you haven’t heard… all the kids are grown now. (How???) And I’m officially a granny to an awesome 5-year-old! Life is weird and beautiful and chaotic in the most unexpected ways.
