I had never heard of a Cassava Root until I was able to try the CrispRoot Cassava Chips. CrispRoot Chips are made out of the root from the Cassava shrub (Manihoc esculenta). The Cassava shrub is a plant native to South America. It is also cultivated throughout Asia and Africa. But then it get’s interesting because now I know that Cassava is also known as tapioca, manioc, and yuca! Ok, well I know what Tapioca and yuca is!
I learned that it grows year round and requires little water for cultivation. This makes it ideal for drought prone areas. It is also the primary energy source for over 800 million people around the world!
So what about eating it?
Cassava root provides an incredibly healthy food that offers a tasty alternative to fatty, unnatural snack foods.
CrispRoot chips have 30-40% less fat and double the fiber of regular potato chips. They sent me samples in all 4 flavors: Original, Sea Salt, BBQ, and Ginger. After trying all of them, my favorite is the Thai Ginger! Wow! So not only are they healthy they are very tasty. Crunchy like a chip, but they do not include any artificial sweeteners, trans-fat, cholesterol, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, colorings, yeast, gluten, or dairy.
I have a lot of friends (including my mom) that are Gluten Free. I hope they give CrispRoot a try!
I received samples of the product mentioned above to facilitate this review. No compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
