Craft blanks and bases
This can be anything from boxes and bags to polystyrene and wooden lettering and shapes. These are the workhorses of your creativity, the object into which you pour your creative mind so make sure you keep a varied selection to hand. Natural bases and shapes found in nature can also spark the imagination so don’t restrict it to what you can purchase – experiment and your creative projects will be better for it.

Decoration and finishes
Paint, glitter, buttons, ribbons even shells and sand – the more elaborate and sparkly the better. To ensure all of these wonderful items stick to your base you will also need a wide range of glues and adhesives including PVA, glue sticks and even the wonderful glue gun, the muscle in your adhesive armory.
Craft tools
Scissors are of course the staple of the craft tool but you can also get a range of brushes, knives and cutting mats to ensure a more accurate and neat finish. Handmade can equal polished with the right tools and practice.
Stationery
Pens, rulers, plain and colored paper; stationery is handy for even the smallest and mundane of household tasks. Anything can be made to look good with a bit of colored paper and some decoupage!

OK so not technically a craft item but if you have spent a lot of time and money choosing the right materials or collecting inspiring items you want to make sure they are kept clean, tidy and safe. That is also true of your home. So if you are going to invest in crafting, a few handy storage boxes that can be stacked will be invaluable.
Of course, there is no end to what you can achieve with a little imagination and this is only a start.
