HOW TO BANISH MOM STRESS

08.23.2018 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

If you’re a mom, you’ll know only too well how tough life can be at times. No matter how much help you’re getting from your partner or wider family, it can all feel a bit too much. You find yourself collapsing on the sofa each evening feeling tired and a little stressed. Yes, bringing up a family is hard, but there are ways and means of easing the pressure and creating more enjoyment. Here are some ways to banish mom stress.

MOM STRESS

Share the load

As a mom, it can be tempting to think you have to take on lots of tasks and achieve them in very little time. Sound familiar? If it does, you should think about sharing the load more with your partner and amongst your children, if they’re old enough.

Nobody likes doing the laundry and washing-up, for instance, but if you share the tasks around the family, it can ease the load. Draw up a roster for each week, rotating duties amongst all of you. Offer an incentive at the end of the week, like a meal out.

Speak to the professionals

Falling ill or being unable to complete your daily tasks can be incredibly stressful. Rather than fight through the red tape all by yourself, you should turn to the professionals. If you’re mentally unwell, then speaking to a therapist could help you unload all your worries, while finding a solution by the end of it. Additionally, if you are physically unwell and are in need of surgery, ask the doctors and nurses on what is going to happen, how it could impact your life and whether you should put plans in place, such as childcare. You should never be running yourself into the ground, and if your health worsens because of medical negligence, you can speak to a solicitor for medical negligence. Doing so means you get the support you deserve in such a tough time.

Ask your relatives

If you have young children, then managing your daily routine can be like a juggling act. If you’re struggling to get things done, then why not ask your wider family for help? Maybe your parents, or parents-in-law, could lend a hand once or twice a week? They could look after the kids while you pop out and do other stuff. Or they could give you and your partner a break one weekend, to enjoy some quiet time together.

Grandparents are usually keen to see as much of their grandchildren as possible, so let them into your life – they can enjoy the time and help ease your stress levels!

Have fun family time

Having a happy state of mind also comes from having lots of fun family time together. So, you and your partner and the kids all taking part in something like a sporting activity or going away for the weekend. These times are precious in your busy lives, and you should carve out as many opportunities as possible – helping you all to grow as a family unit.

Have some ‘me’ time

As well as family time, and time with your partner, good wellbeing also comes from having some ‘me’ time. When was the last time you sat down on the sofa with a good book and a coffee for a few hours on your own? If you can’t remember, it’s time to get some more of this back into your life. Everyone needs their own space now and then. Try and make it happen as much as possible to banish some of the stress that builds up without you realizing!
