I don’t know about y’all, but in my opinion EMTs, Paramedics and firemen are some of the best people in the world! What we would do without them? I don’t ever want to find out!
I have the utmost respect for our frontline workers; Nurses, EMTs, firemen, Police Officers and so many more! But I’m going to focus on EMTs and Paramedics for this post. I am sure that we each have our own story of why these hard workers are so important, whether they saved the life of you or a loved one. These people are seriously dedicated to their jobs and I am so thankful for them.
Real Heroes
My memory is a little fuzzy from being so young, but my first memory of these amazing people was the day we had to call 911 for my little sister. She was around two years old when she had a Grand Mal Seizure and it was absolutely terrifying. I was only about nine when it happened and I don’t remember the whole story, but I know they played a big role in saving her life.
Shortage of workers
I’m not sure if you have noticed or not, but almost every business is hiring. Fast food, Childcare, the Medical field, and so many more. We are seriously lacking workers and that’s pretty scary in my opinion.
You know though… I actually am not super worried about being able to get things like fast food, but I am worried about us running out of the people who keep us safe. Right now there is a huge shortage of EMTs and we need them now more than ever.
If you’re looking for a rewarding career, it’s definitely near the top of the totem pole! There are different levels of being an EMT and some of them require as little as 15 weeks of education! How cool is that!? It definitely isn’t the best paying job in the world, nor is it the easiest; but can you imagine how rewarding and fulfilling it would be?

Saving lives
I was reading about Maxim Gorin and his story on why he became an EMT is pretty inspiring. He started a whole business around it and I can’t imagine how amazing it feels to be in the business of saving lives! I honestly considered going to school to be an EMT for a while, but God had other plans for me and I found my true calling elsewhere. Sometimes I still think about what it would be like though. Maybe in another season of life, I will get to experience it.
I am really hoping that things will change soon and we won’t have such a shortage of workers. But I understand things are scary in this new world and not everyone is willing to put themselves in the middle of it. But I do know that things will only get better if we all work together and stand strong. Me being a frontline worker myself, I take great pride in doing my job and helping others.
