Why Surgical Tech Jobs Are Best For Organized Moms

04.28.2018 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

You have a great, big wall calendar in the family room that covers all doctor’s visits, teacher in-service days, planned family outings, and work project due dates. Your purse has every personal hygiene product known to mankind stored neatly inside of zipped up compartments and pockets. Even your car looks more like a convenience store than a mode of transportation, with snacks stored in the glove compartment, headache medicine tucked away in the inner console, and band-aids kept in the driver side door’s storage bay. Surgical technicians have to be every bit as organized as the busiest mom, which is the main reason you ought to take a closer look at this field. With affordable surgical tech schools available in every US state, you can use your superior organization skills to find a program, download and fill out the application, and file your acceptance letter. If you want a career where your scheduling, organization, and protocol skills will be appreciated, become a surgical tech.

You Can Already Keep to a Tight Schedule

Surgeries aren’t necessarily always scheduled – or expected – so if your supervisor tells you that you need to prep five operating rooms in rapid succession, your experience as a super organized mom will help a lot. With the number of times you have had to rush the kids to get ready, so they wouldn’t be late for school, anticipating traffic on your route, and still making it on time, getting through tight scheduling scenarios will be a piece of cake. Your days might be busier than usual working as a surgical tech, but you also know that you have what it takes to maintain a steady pace.

Your Cleaning Skills Are Impeccable

Operating rooms are set up according to the type of procedure being performed. Once an operation is complete, surgical tools have to be cleaned, the bedding has to be stripped down, and all surfaced have to be completely disinfected. Sounds like a lot of cleaning, and it is. Though you won’t be picking up toys or doing any laundry, you do have to be extremely thorough in a hospital room setting. All of your hard work will go to ensure that no patients get an infection.

Paying Attention to Detail Will be Appreciated

How many times have you entered one of your kid’s rooms and noticed that there is a piece of furniture out of place? As a surgical technician, you have to know your way around the operating room well. In addition, you are expected to know what surgical tools are needed for every medical procedure. Having the tools sterilized, laid out, and organized ahead of each surgical procedure makes things safer for patients and more convenient for surgeons.

You have a daily planner that you keep updated, as well as storage bins for all of your children’s clothes. You’re highly organized and you are seeking a job where you will be able to apply your most valuable skills. Become a surgical technician and you’ll have something that you and your family can be eternally proud of.
