Prehistoric Sea Monsters
Emma received a present from her older sister Morgan, it was a kit to grow your own prehistoric sea monsters! The sea monsters are actually Triops. I had my doubts on our success. I thought ok, maybe some will hatch, but I figured they would stay super tiny and then die. I was wrong…

Right now we have one huge Triop, he or she ate all of the others. Actually, I think they may be hermaphrodites. We need to do a lapbook on them.
It ate and it ate and it grew like crazy!
This is a great educational project. Triops are a 220 million-year-old species! They hatch and grow to more than 20 times their original size. It’s been really easy to take care of so far. We do keep a light on over its tank, just a normal desk lamp. I’ve added some water as it evaporates, but if it keeps growing I’m going to have to get it a new home to swim in!
The Smithsonian Prehistoric Sea Monsters would make a great gift!

Sounds like an interesting science project. That’s one thing that’s so neat about homeschooling. You can tailor-make your curriculum to include your children’s interests.
What on earth do you feed a sea monster?
