Know Magazine, Science for Kids!

09.28.2010 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Know Magazine is a Science Magazine for kids ages 6 to 9 years old.  I don’t know about your kids, but my kids and most kids that I know love science!  There really isn’t anything boring about science.  There is always something to learn and ohhhhh the experiments!  We love experiments!

My girls love anything that is hands on…learning from a text book is boring.  I don’t blame them for not liking text books.  Give them something interesting and the learning just happens!

Here are just a few of the topics that you can find in Know Magazine:

  • dinosaurs and animals from around the world
  • the solar system, planets, and stars
  • our Earth, climate, and seasons
  • technology, then and now
  • fascinating scientists, cool facts, latest discoveries, and newest inventions

Have you ever heard of a Glass Frog?  I hadn’t until I read about it in Know Magazine.  The frog’s chest is transparent and you can see through it’s skin! You can see it’s liver, lungs and it’s heart!  The photo included of this frog was so amazing!

Remember doing string art when you were a kid?  I did at camp and had totally forgotten about that fun project until reading it in an issue of Know Magazine.  Well, now the kids are all excited up to make their own string art.  I’m going to have daddy prepare it on wood scraps from his job.  In the instructions they tell you how you can use corrugated cardboard and straight pins instead of wood and nails.  What a great project that covers art, design and science all in one!

I’m excited to be getting more issues of Know Magazine.  The vivid photography, fun facts and hands on activities make this a hit at our house!

You can download a sample issue of Know Magazine by clicking here and read about the Glass Frog I was talking about.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Mad Science and received the products necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.
