How to Reheat Rice

06.23.2009 by Girl on Fire // 8 Comments

Ok, so not too long ago some ladies were talking about how nasty reheated rice is.  Well, I have a tip for you on how to reheat rice!  Actually my mom taught me this and you would think it would mess it up, but it’s super cool how it works and it makes the rice taste freshly steamed…..SWEAR! It’s so simple… Are you ready for it?
Two bowls of healthy organic rice
Just plain ‘ol ice! What you do is get your rice in a microwave safe dish.  Place an ice cube on top.  Microwave it!  The ice will NOT melt! It steams the rice and reheats it perfectly!  After reheating the dish, just remove the ice-cube!  Now you don’t have to throw out the leftover rice!  Try it! I think it’s pretty crazy how the ice will not melt, so if you are a sciency person please feel free to explain to me why the ice does not melt.

great tip! My best guess would be that the rice heats up faster and minimal melting occurs and provides enough moisture so the rice doesn’t lose moisture. If you used little pieces of ice they would disappear.

My family LOVES rice, they will love this!
