Some people see the continued increase in smartphone usage as a bad thing for family life however it can be easily integrated. A smartphone is useful for entertainment and even productivity and you might well be grateful you had one if you get lost when on holiday.
What are the ways a smartphone, such as one from Virgin Mobile, can be most useful?
Family apps
Being a parent can be hard work, as anyone who is one will know. There just does not seem to be enough time in the day to get everything done. Apps can come in very handy to help plan your time so that dinner is on the table and all the chores are done.
Why not set up a timetable on your phone and print it wirelessly to get everyone involved with the cleaning? There are apps designed to help you with your budgeting and even create an allowance for the kids.
Games for rainy days
Everyone looks forward to a family day out but you just cannot rely on the weather. Maybe the board games are all tired and overused? No worry – app stores on smartphones are full of games waiting to be downloaded. There are fun games for kids and parents alike so the whole family will be able to get involved. All your favourite board games will likely have a phone or tablet version or you can try something completely different, such as a learning adventure or roleplaying game.
If you have more than one smartphone many apps can sync with other phones for an even more fun experience.
Keep your kids safe
At the basic level a smartphone is designed to make calls. Forgetting all the fancy gadgets and apps that are available if your kids own one then they will be able to call you and you them, which will give you peace of mind when they are out. It would also come in handy in emergencies, should they happen.
Plan your holiday
Everyone remembers piling the family into the car with maps up to your eyeballs. A smartphone can eliminate the need for confusing maps and even double up as a sat nav with the right app. What’s more, you can plan your holiday using it by finding where you each want to go.

I love having a smart phone. We can use the navigation feature around town or when I have to travel to Maryland for our son’s dr’s appts. My oldest son even gets the metro apps when we are in Maryland so we can keep update on routes. I adore having quick access to my email as we are all out & about too. What did we ever do before smart phones??!!
