I know, it’s hard being sick. It’s hard living life with a chronic illness, but life is precious still. You just have to find that light.
There will be people that come and go. Some people will slowly back away as you continue to be sick. They don’t understand and really, that is ok. How could they understand something that they haven’t experienced?
Thankfully, in this day and age, you have the internet. A means to connect to those that do understand you. A way to actually talk to someone that gets it. You don’t even have to get dressed to connect to them. You can lay on your couch and someone is usually available to even just give you a heart on your Facebook post.
On your good days, try to get out. Get out of the house that usually holds you hostage on your bad days. If you are able to, take a walk. If not, have someone push you in a wheelchair. Sit at the park, lay in the grass. Go to the shelter and pet the dogs, or if you’re a cat person, I suppose you could pet the cats?
What do you love? When you have a decent day, do that! Take advantage of your good moments and then rest when you need to. I’m the worst about overdoing it though. I push too hard sometimes and I pay dearly. I need to take my own advice.
See your doctor when you need to. But make sure you are seeing the right doctor. Not all doctors fit all illnesses. I regularly see a neurologist. But I am thinking of adding in an internal medicine doctor like Martin Stallone. I just need to research and find one with good reviews in my area that understands the illnesses I face. One that doesn’t just want to drug me into zombie land.
What kind of doctor do you see for your illness? It took me years to find the right neurologist. My first neurologist drugged me without even diagnosing me. Then I went to a rheumatologist who was amazing, but he moved away. He was the one that first diagnosed me when no one else knew what was happening. Then I found my neurologist who confirmed my diagnosis. I also found a nurse practitioner that treats me like a human and not an experiment. So keep on looking til you find a doctor that listens to you. There are ways to feel even a little bit better. Any improvement is still an improvement.

You have and are always an inspiration to anyone who has a chronic illness. I am so proud of you, always trying to help others on the few days you have that are half way decent. Keep on fighting Hun, hoping someday soon, they will find help for you and others, who really do have a reason to complain!
