PETA Pissed Me Off!

08.07.2009 by Girl on Fire // 16 Comments

Before I get started, let me tell you that I’m all about loving animals (unless it is a cat or a bird of course..oh and those damn Spider Monkeys)…however…PETA pissed me off!

I totally believe in free speech.  I think you can say whatever the heck you want.  If I don’t want to hear it, then I don’t have to listen. What I don’t believe in or agree with are some of the tactics used.  I do not appreciate you trying to scare my children!

We were so excited to attend the Circus in Dallas!  My girls had never been and just could not wait.  Then I get these people with megaphones frightening my children!  Screaming about animal abuse and other things that my young children did not need to have shoved in their faces.

So PETA, I guess emotional abuse on a child is OK? Scaring the crap out of my kids and thousands of others?  Was that your goal?  My oldest daughter was extremely upset and you pretty much ruined her whole night.  Way to go!

There are much better ways to go about spreading your word. Don’t shove it in my face and try to force feed it to my family.  So yea PETA, you pissed me off and can pretty much kiss my ass…Your tactics suck and you’re morals are lacking.

Maybe the next time y’all have an event I can show up with a megaphone and scream about how PETA chooses to frighten and emotionally abuse young children.

I’m so sorry that this marred your circus experience with the kiddos! I’ve never been a PETA fan. I love animals. When God laid down the rules to the Israelites, he told them to treat their animals well. But PETA carries things too far, and treats animals more importantly than humans.

So lame… That’s like when I was driving down the street, minding my own business and there’s this chick holding this HUGE poster of an aborted baby outside I guess what is an abortion clinic. Idk- obviously I’ve never been there! But it pissed me off because I didn’t wanna see that and I had kids in the car as well. 🙁

They tossed red paint on women wearing fur coats or leather a few years ago in Boston and handed the kids booklets with a June Cleaver looking mom holding a rabbit by the ears and butcher knife stabbing into it. Yep PETA sucks! They dont know how to do anything but use scare tactics.

OMG I’m so sorry! They really have the worst tactics! Don’t they realize that they could get a lot more accomplished by working in different manners instead of harassing people and their kids.

I think picketing of any kind is abrasive and self centered. All you’re doing is showing off your right to tell other people how you feel about your convictions in the most obnoxious way possible. The anti abortion people are worse with their posters that are definatly not appropriate for children to see or the “God Hates Fags” people who boycott funerals. It’s too bad the kids had to endure childish adults.

Wow! I haven’t been to a circus in awhile, but holy crap – that would have pissed me off to no end. Do they do this at Zoo’s too? Not that I’m against Zoo’s but just seems that PETA seems to pick and chose their battles. Makes me want to ask if they are truly for animals or just causing a commotion?!

PETA are not zoo fans, however zoos are also not involved in the kind of cruelty that goes on with animals in the circus.

I’m doing an OP/ED in newspaper about how repulsive PETA’s tactics are. This really helped me actually.

I picketed with PETA last week here in Denver. I do not believe in extremes, but I believe in educating people. There are horrible things that happen to animals involved in the circus. What was MY extent of picketing? Standing on a corner and holding a sign. I don’t believe I need to do anything more than that. I am NOT a PETA member, and I DON’T agree with 99% of the things they do, but I do agree with them that the circus needs to stop.

Geez, It bugs the shit out of me when I hear that this kind of stuff even took place to begin with! Mostly it just pisses me off, but whatever, what’ll change, ya know?!
