The simple truth is that pests of any nature are not welcome in your kitchen or home. If you discover you have an issue you should click here and get professional help to eliminate it.

The good news is there are 5 things you can do that will help to keep the pests out of your kitchen.

1.Keep Food Sealed Away

Pests are attracted to kitchens because they need food, water, and warmth, all of which can be found in your kitchen. The simplest way to prevent them from coming in is to deprive them of at least one of these items.

Food is the easiest option. Put any open packets in sealed food containers and always replace the food into the container as soon as you’ve finished using it.

This will prevent the smells from attracting pests and make it virtually impossible for them to get into the food, even if they could find it.

2. Wash Everything

To complement sealing the food safely away you should develop a habit of cleaning up as soon as you’ve finished preparing. Wash all dishes or places them in a dishwasher, wipe the surfaces down to remove all crumbs and food waste, then spray them with a disinfectant.

This ensures there are no food traces for your pests to eat, making your kitchen much less desirable. There will be better options they can check out.

3. Eat In One Place

Maintaining hygiene levels is essential if you want to keep the pests away. This means you need to keep the floor clean of crumbs by vacuuming and mopping regularly.

To make this process easier get in the habit of eating at your table and always eat at the same spot if you have a family it’s a great way of minimizing food mess and ensuring you can clear it up easily If there is no food there is no attraction to pests.

4. Seal The Bin

The bin is another great spot for pests to find food. You may not find the contents appealing but the pests are certain to like the look of your food waste.

To prevent this from being an issue simply make sure the bin has a lid and that it is kept closed. When you remove the full bin bag, tie the top shut and put it in an outside bin, as far away as practically possible from your home.

5. Have An Annual Inspection

Finally, to help prevent pests from finding a way into your kitchen have an annual inspection by your local pest control firm. They will inspect your premises for signs of infestation and give you advice regarding potential entry points and how to seal them up. If the pests can’t get into your kitchen they won’t be an issue!
