I was never talented as a musician. As music goes, in the Jr. High School band, I played the Trombone…I had braces and was told that was one of my only choices. I guess I could have started a Ska band? But I really don’t like Ska, so that wouldn’t have been very fun. My husband is a musician and is a very talented guitarist and music/songwriter. His dad was as well! He has a sister who sings and teaches piano, they just have this musical DNA that I do not have.
Our youngest daughter seems to have inherited the musical DNA from her daddy. She loves to sing, we got her a keyboard last Christmas and she has been teaching herself to play that as well. I always wanted to learn to play the Violin and I hope that maybe she will since I did not ever get that goal accomplished. Today I came across John Ross Jesensky who is an accomplished composer and screenwriter. Have you heard of him? He has won many awards for his scores that he has composed. I think Emma would be great at something like this, I know her daddy is always talking about this sort of thing and it really makes you pay attention to how much the music score really effects the movie you are watching.
John Jesensky has actually announced that he is offering the first annual John Jesensky Scholarship. School isn’t cheap and adding on this music interest makes it even more pricey and hard to attain for many families. The John Jesensky Scholarship was founded to support all colleges and to promote musical education. This could really make the difference in someone being able to follow their dreams! One student will be chosen to receive $1,000 to help their pursuit of higher learning.
All you have to do is visit the link above and enter your Essay. The Short Essay is just this one question: “What kind of impact does music really make on society?”. I noticed that the deadline is March 1st, 2018 to submit your essay. So if you know someone that wants to pursue music, let them know about this scholarship!
I hope that if my children decide they want to pursue a serious career in the music field that they can win some of these scholarships and save me the expense. No joke, Mama is broke! Oh, by the way I found this place with excellent violin brands available, be sure to check it out!
