Yesterday I Went to the ER…

03.18.2010 by Girl on Fire // 13 Comments

I have had a headache for a few weeks straight now.  Nothing helped and my head jerking grew worse.  It used to only happen at night when I tried to relax and go to sleep.  Tuesday evening a scary thing happened.  The head jerking began and increased to being so rapid that I was breathing heavily as if I had been running.  It was basically like a seizure, but I could walk and talk.  I was jerking frantically for over an hour and a half!  This went on until my body finally gave into exhaustion.  I was panicky and I think I scared the hell out of Jeremy.  He woke up from the jerking.

Wednesday I went to the ER, still jerking.  Headache was insane.  I was exhausted and I was at my wits end.  I needed relief and answers.

At the ER they checked my heart with an EKG, gave me a CAT Scan, X-rays, Blood Work and an MRI.  I had never had an MRI before and that was a bit scary.  It is a bit hard to be still when you go to the ER for jerking!  My tests showed that I do not have an aneurysm and I do not have a tumor.  It is clear that I do have a neurological problem and I got my referral!  Thank God!  This is what I needed!  They also gave me an RX that took my pain way down.  With the pain gone the jerking subsided.  Last night I slept so good!  Today I was alert, had energy, I was NICE!  I have been grumpy this whole year because of the pain I am in.

Today I called and set up an appointment with the neurologist.  My appointment is next Thursday.  I pray that I get answers.  Thank you all for your support!  Thank you all so much for trying to help me win the Intel contest.  I didn’t win, but the support you all showed me was really great!  I appreciate all the emails and comments and am trying to catch up on responses!

Wow, sounds scary. I’ve had many MRI’s to diagnos MS and those aren’t fun either. Good luck at your appointment, hope they have answers for you.

You’ve been going through quite a rough patch–so sorry! I’m glad to hear you’re getting evaluated and will hopefully get the answers and treatment you need. I voted for you in the Intel contest a bunch of times and was so hoping you’d win. Wishing you all the best as you see the neurologist. God bless.

You know, I was doing that, too, not long ago. During the day wasn’t bad. I would (and still do) just have jerks from time to time. I didn’t know until my BF was home for a weekend (he’s working in Nebraska) that, at night, I was violently jerking. I would stop breathing. Then gasp and continue this all night long. Scared him to death. Of course, it scared me, once I found out.

The problem: my medication. It was a a SEVERE reaction. They took me off the medicine and now I have the occasional jerks throughout the day.

I’ve been dealing with the extreme pain, neurological problems and health issues since getting hurt on the job February, 2008. I understand where you’re coming from and your frustrations. If I can help, let me know.

    I’ll pray for you, friend.

Hey sweetie! Let me know how the appointment goes, and what the doctors say. I am sure they will get to the bottom of this soon and be able to start the correct treatment. Just keep me posted. I haven’t heard from you in forever it seems. Love you honey, and I am praying for ya!

I’ve been away from my computer, but I have been thinking of you!! I am so sorry for all you’ve been going through!! I am glad there isn’t a tumor or clot. That is good news!! Hopefully they can figure out the problem and treat it.

    ((hugs))
