Wordless Wednesday, I Just Got a Whole Lot Tougher

05.26.2010 by Girl on Fire // 36 Comments

I don’t just mean tougher looking…I mean tougher in general.  I know I am horribly behind on updating my blog, but I am recovering from a surgery that pretty much kicked my ass several times over.

I sit here and I stay at the computer trying to get the thoughts together so I can blog…sometimes it happens, but more often…it just ain’t happening.

I’ve learned a lot about myself and other people.  It’s not a pretty place to be, but it’s a place I need to be.  You would not believe the strangers that have reached out to me!  I have not responded to the majority of you yet, but trust me I will.  Just let me get through this.  I do want you to know that your words mean so much and have helped me to learn a lot and see a lot more clearly.

Basically I was dying.  That thing was killing me.  It’s out now and I am recovering…but what now?  Tomorrow I go to the Doctor and hopefully the reports are in.  Tomorrow I should find out what this thing was that was choking the life out of me.  I pray it isn’t cancer, but if it is…then we start a new journey and kick it’s ass with the help and support of my friends.  Whether you are my “here with me friend” or my “internet friend”…y’all will help me beat it down!

I found support in the most surprising places and most of that I owe to the blogging community.  Some of my friends probably do think I am a nerd for leaning so much on my blog, but you know what…so what.  It’s what I do, it’s part of me and it makes me happy.

So here we go….to my new outlook and focus, a constant reminder that life is too short to not live it right.

What do you think?

You know I’m thinking about you. I HATE that you have to go through this. I’m so glad it’s gone and tomorrow can mark a new journey after figuring out what Spike was. 😉 Lots of love, Brandy. Your strength is absolutely amazing.

I know what you mean. I about died myself last year from blood clots in my lungs. It life slaps you in the face and make you look at the world in a whole new light. I dont take one second of my life for granted and I enjoy everything minute of it. When something it tramatic happens there is no words to describe what it does to you inside. After a year, I think I am still in shock that I about died. I mean really. Hang in there.

Thinking about you. I have memories and a scar to remember mine by and its profound to go through a surgery like that and have a large scar you can’t hide. It does make you stronger, though you were a tough cookie before Spike!

Franken Belly kinda rocks. 😛 Not at all rockin’ that you had to go through this shit in order to get it, but it’s a battle scar of sorts, and every scar has a story. Tomorrow, you get the staples out and find out whether or not to gear up for round two of kicking Spike’s ass. You will win. I have faith and confidence in you. Not only do I suspect that Spike was just a big, annoying bugger and not cancer, but I am praying for that as well. I have great faith that prayer will be answered.

You are tough as nails, lady, and I am PROUD to call you my friend.

Those scars fade away but, had it gone much longer, the scars to your family for dealing with losing you, would have been much greater. That’s just your shell anyway. What matters most is what’s on the inside and WHO you are. Be strong, friend. Know that, whatever the outcome tomorrow, you’ll get thru it. We’ll help.

It is amazing how much strength we can find and where we can find it. I pray that the results are in, and that the bulk of the issue is over and you can work on getting healthy again. hugs

I think your scar will be prettier than my scars. I had major surgery a few years back but they did it via laproscopy, only they had to do six various poke holes to put the instruments through. The scars look like I was shot six times. LOL. Sorry, I don’t want to make you laugh, it hurts with staples. I know that because they did put staples in a couple of the larger poke holes (that’s what I call them).
Actually you scar is long like my father-in-law’s when he had to have an major huge aneurysm in his descending aorta that attached to some of his organs repaired. I can understand how you are so sore. Still praying for your pain to be less, a fast healing recovery and good reports from your Dr. that it was just something that was benign. God Bless.

Sending you hugs and best wishes. I hope by now you have heard some good news.
On the positive side- your staples all look relatively equal and straight.
You can make up any number of explanations for the scar, should you desire to play with the story.
I wish I could say it would fade away to almost invisible, but after 30 years, I still have a ridge on my irregular line. I have made friends with it.
Considering other family issues you have been through recently, you are handling this with class, grace, strength, and will continue to grow from the experience (spiritually.) You have been an inspiration to those around you.
