It’s 2011 and I honestly have seen quite a rise in the women I see breastfeeding. It’s so awesome to see women feeding their babies naturally out in public, not hidden away somewhere like they are the dirty secret of being human. I’ve been so impressed to see young mothers out there breastfeeding their very first babies and being proud and not hiding this totally natural act.
Then I see this crap about a woman being fired, she says because she wants to pump milk for her baby while at work….SAY WHAT? Fired for taking a few minutes to pump milk for her baby?
Heather Burgbacher taught for five years at the Rocky Mountain Academy in Evergreen, Colorado. She had no problem when she pumped for her first child, but with a new director and her second child the issues arose. The director then told her she should “switch to formula.”
The ACLU has taken up the case. It is the law that she has the right to do this. What do you think?

I am so proud of a teacher at our school. She just had twins (premature) but before she had them she told me that she will be putting up a curtain when she is pumping for the babies!! YAY for her. So proud, and happy to work for a school district that supports moms who want to breastfeed their babies. 🙂
There are some stupid people out in the world! I am very lucky and work for an awesome company that not only allows it, but provides a “mother’s room” with nice chair, little fridge, locked up with keys for only us, nicely decorated, etc.
People are able to go out for smoke breaks but a mom can’t go pump milk for her baby? How do you get fired for that?! This is yet another example of why some people are idiots.
It is the law! I so can’t believe that they fired her over it! Ugh. I’m a proud breastfeeder and I don’t understand why people get all uptight about it. It’s natural!!!!
