A few years back…well more than a few. It would be more like 5 years ago? Morgan had a Blue Heeler mix named Belle. She was just a pup when we got her for Morgan as a Christmas present. She was so happy! Then we rescued Bullet. Bullet is a purebred Blue Heeler. He is an amazing dog. He has so much energy! These days Bullet is a blind old man, but he still keeps on going.
One Easter day about 3 1/2-4 years ago Morgan had went outside to check on her dogs. She came in and had this little ball of fur in her hands. At first I thought it was a rodent of some sort. I was a little panicky. Was it a baby possum? EEEEK! No…No….it was a puppy! A cute little Blue Heeler puppy! But where had it come from? Morgans first dog Belle had been pregnant and she kept it a secret! She hid it well, I guess that is easy to do when you are only carrying one little Easter Miracle.
She was so cute! At first glance she looked like a little White ball with a few black spots, but if you looked closely, you could see her blue color hiding underneath that baby fur. She would be soooo blue and we knew that Blue was the name for her.
Below you can see her as an itty bitty puppy. Her Blue coat was already starting to show. Isn’t she the cutest fat ball of fur?
Now Blue is a full grown lady. We had some issues and had actually made a decision to get rid of her because of behavior problems. I even posted that we were taking her to a no kill shelter. It never happened. Her behavior changed and she has become a very good dog. I’m not sure if it was a hormonal imbalance or what? Anyhow…as you can see…she lives up to her beautiful name….Blue.
Here is Morgan and Blue. Blue is quite the poser haha!
She loves attacking the ball!
This is one of my favorite photos. That is Bullet with Blue and Morgan.
So, she came into our life as a surprise…we don’t even know who the father is! Bullet is neutered, so it couldn’t have been him. We think maybe it was Jeremy’s Grandmother’s dog. They lived next store and we had seen him sneaking around a bit before we got the surprise birth!
We’ve had our ups and downs with her. But Morgan has been very dedicated to training and working with Blue on her behavior. We had to give her another chance and I am really glad I did. She has become a very obedient dog. She has her moods which happen to pop up around the times she goes into heat. We are hoping that getting her fixed will changer her even a little more. I would hate to see her go.
So what do you think? Does the name fit?
I am blogging about my dear pet as a part of the “What’s in a Name?” Campaign hosted by dog bark collar. Pets are an important part of any family.
