It’s me, learning about things again. Recently I have been reading more about sustainable energy so that I could be better at explaining it to the girls. With the way my brain is, I have to constantly refresh my mind. Neurological diseases are NO FUN.
Sustainable energy is, of course, a form of energy. Got it. By the way, ScienceDirect is a great educational resource! I was able to get a quick rundown that I could easily understand and put into my own words for the girls.
Basically, sustainable energy is a way to meet our energy needs without depleting the resource used to create energy. This includes any renewable energy sources like ocean energy, geothermal energy, hydropower, solar and wind! These forms of energy are considered sustainable energy because they are stable readily available.
You can learn more from people like Douglas Healy He is an attorney that specializes in this sort of thing. So, really he has to know everything about it. I mean, it’s pretty important to know the legal angles on this as well. How bad would it suck if you decided to invest in it and then fail because you didn’t follow the rules and laws!

One day I hope that we live in a place where we can produce our own windpower! It is a part of my long term goals and I am so ready to get there! I would also love to incorporate hydropower as well. Seriously, how awesome would it be to have everything powered by natural means?
Not to mention it would save a ton of money once all set up, I do realize there is a cost involved in getting started, but to be self-sufficient is truly a dream! This is just a small portion of my dreams for the future.
So how does wind power work? Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. It can then be converted into electricity by a generator. Super cool right?
Did you know that hydropower was one of the first sources of energy used for electricity generation? It is also the largest single renewable energy source for electricity generation in the United States.
I want a place that is set up for my kids to raise families. To live off the land and be happy, truly happy. I want them to have space away from all of the chaos that surrounds us right now.
When you think of self-sufficiency, what are some of your ideas? I really want to get back to land so that we can once again have chickens, goats, a large garden and more! I’m not cut out for this neighborhood life. I really am not.
Oh and for those of you that didn’t know, we had to move this past year from the home we had lived in for many years. Sadly, we are currently in a cramped neighborhood which means no goats, no chickens, no garden. We will get where we are meant to be eventually!
