In pretty much every home I am sure there will be games under the tree! If not games, then maybe vouchers or a membership to download games. I know that under our tree this year you will find a Nintendo Wii! I’m not really a gamer, but I played the Wii at the library once and fell in love with it. Any game that causes kids to be active is pretty awesome in my opinion. I had a blast playing it with Morgan and I am looking forward to this gift. Thanks Mom and Dad! Others I know have an XBox 360 on their holiday wishlist!
I love the idea of downloading games and noticed some that are free. A lot of games can be educational and that is an extra plus on top of the fun. Downloading them causes less pile up of more junk in the house and trust me…as a homeschool family we don’t have that much room for more stuff!
Since we know that we are getting a Wii for Christmas I want to shop for some games! I know that some of the games I want include:
- Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board
- New Super Mario Bros.
- NHL 2K10
What other games should I look into? Is there some sort of off-road 4×4 type game for the Wii?

We have what you might call a gamer’s home. We have all the major game systems already. Our Wii is played the least for no other reason than my son keeps trading in the Wii games for others. So, we tend to forget it’s there.
However, my sister has a Wii and it’s so fun to play at any weekend get together. We waste hours playing the sports games and our very favorites are Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I think the main benefit of the Wii above others, besides being more active, is that it is inclusive. When you see people playing actively, it’s hard not to wanna jump in too. My recommendation is to get the games that draw people into group play. We are gamers but recognize how boring it is to sit and watch someone play a game. And I like seeing all ages playing a game together.
Your welcome, hope the kids are surprised on Christmas morning.
