Changes Made Last Year Concerning the Treatment of My RSD (CRPS)

Changes Made Last Year Concerning the Treatment of My RSD (CRPS)

mcgillpainindex

I made some huge changes last year concerning the treatment of my RSD (CRPS).  I went against everything I’ve been told and dropped every single one of my prescription medications.

This was not something I did cold turkey and this is something that I did really put a lot of thought into before attempting.  I really spread the wean out over the entire year until there was not one medication left in my system.

I am NOT a doctor.  What I did would have been against medical advice had I given my doctor a clue I was doing it.  I do think he would have helped me but would have liked to have supervised my detox.

Detox is HARD, like really hard.  One of the hardest things you could imagine.  In fact, I am still experiencing withdrawal effects from the last medication from my wean.  The last medication was my antidepressant.

The final straw

Lyrica was the final straw, the straw that broke me.  Literally, it broke me.  The side effects were horrid, worse than any other med I had tried.  I just don’t see the point of continuing medications that are not helping and are also causing, even more, damage to my already damaged body.  Feeling a tiny bit better once in awhile just wasn’t worth it in my eyes.

What I’m doing instead

Well, I have already blogged about my use of essential oils, CBD oil (for those that do not know, CBD from the industrial hemp plant does not contain TCH and is legal in all states at this time) and I am continuing those.  But I’ve also added herbs.

Herbs

I am still experimenting with the best herbs for treating my symptoms, but so far I am having really great luck.  They are helping me in so many ways, beyond any of the prescription meds I was taking.  There is so much to learn about herbs, though.  They can be very powerful and not something to just jump into without learning about them.

I have developed such an interest that I am dedicating this year to learning as much as possible. I’m going to focus on a different herb or maybe even two per month.  I’ll be blogging about the things I learn along the way and I will try to try as many of them as I possibly can.

Do you use herbs?  Do you have an interest in learning more?  Do you grow your own herbs?

I know your pain will never go away not the falling, uncontrolled muscle spasms, the contortions that happen to your limbs,, just so much and Drs saying it is only to get worse, no cure,But, I know you, and you will accept the horrible chronic pain that never sets you free and will live each day the best you can and always say, “It could be worse!”
    You are my hero.

Oils and herbs have been around far longer than medications but anything can be a poison which is why it is so important to educate yourself. Everyone has to find what works best for her/him.
Pain sucks – this is a universal truth.
I hope you find something that helps you.

I don’t use herbs and probably wouldn’t because I was raised in a medical family. But oh my goodness, if I was in that much pain, I would probably consider anything. I pray you find your solution.
