Top 5 Easter Gift ideas

03.15.2016 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

I try really hard to not make a huge deal out of Easter baskets.  A little candy, some fun spring toys, but nothing over the top crazy.  I’m going to share our top 5 Easter gift ideas below for you in case you are struggling for ideas as well.  Remember to explain the true meaning of Good Friday and Easter Sunday to your children.  Let them know that it really isn’t about what they get.  I feel that we live in a society of the gimmee gimmee’s and that we are failing our youth by feeding those monsters.

Top 5 Easter Gift ideas

1.  Keep candy to a minimum!  We keep the candy to a definite minimum here.  We do jelly beans a few other things and one small chocolate bunny for each kid.  Instead, we focus on more boiled eggs for them to find, after all…the hunt is the best part!  We do not use plastic eggs, we do it old school with boiling, dying and then eating them.  So much more enjoyable than a plastic egg!

2.  Instead of traditional baskets, we get each of the girls a new sand bucket and shovel.  They are always so excited to get a new sand bucket and shovel for taking to the beach or to make mud pies within the yard.

3.  Bubbles!  Bubbles are a very affordable item to include in your kids Easter baskets.  They encourage outdoor play as well!  Seriously. keep it simple!

4.  Sidewalk Chalk is another great one for the Easter baskets.  My children will spend hours and hours using sidewalk chalk on nice days.  They draw streets for a little town to ride their bikes through.

5.  Another idea is a subscrition from the Easter Bunny to Pley.  Pley is a monthly subscription that sends toys to your house for your kids to play with and then return.  It helps keep things fresh and clutter down.  Kids can try out some of the hottest new toys and before the boredom has set in, you can send them back to check something else out.  They have 400+ LEGO sets, popular robotics sets, doll clothing, electronics and so much more.  Using Pley to introduce your kids to new toys is also a great way to encourage responsibility as well as sharing.  Recently Pley has added new toys and a new option, for the low price of $9.99 children can receive one toy per month.  You can order a Pley gift card today!
