Time Fillers For A Fantastic Summer

Fantastic Summer

When you have kids, summer can be both a daunting and exciting time. Exciting because the weather should (generally) be in your favor, but daunting because there’s just so much time to fill to have a fantastic summer. However, as long as you have a plan of what to do while the weather’s nice then you’ll be heading the other way and looking for a bit of time to sit back and relax together!

Round Up The Troops For A Day Trip

Chances are that you’re not the only parent who is looking for stuff to do. There could be a whole bunch of you in the neighborhood just wanting to go out on a day trip but needing a bit of extra support. Thankfully, with social media, it’s easy enough to get ahold of a group of you to be able to do so. A trip to a theme park or other attraction doesn’t need too much planning – just a purchasing of the tickets and the hiring of a bus from http://www.texascharterbuscompany.com/ or similar organization should be all that you need for the majority of the organization. Things such as meals, money budgeting, and other stuff is left down to each individual parent rather than the group as a whole – unless you want to include that in as well.

Utilize The Outdoors

If you have a garden, it’s time to use it. There’s so much that can be done with this outdoor space – all it needs is a little bit of imagination and creativity. You could spend the day building a den or a fort using only materials that you find in and around the garden, going into the house if you have run out of items. If the weather stays good outside, you can prepare an obstacle course for the more active children who need energy burning up; couple it up with water if the sun is shining and you’ve got yourself a homemade water park which they’ll spend hours indulging themselves in. The outdoors is also great for crafts, as any mess made won’t get onto fabrics or carpets – it can simply be hosed away, so it’s fantastic to take the opportunity to start tie-dying old shirts (http://www.parents.com/fun/arts-crafts/kid/tie-dye-with-kids/  if you need reminding) or chalking up the sidewalk/any paving slabs that are available. Let their creativity shine through – they’ll thank you for it!

In Every Job That Must Be Done…

Kids like chores. It depends on their age, but for the most part, they’re just glad to be of assistance. It goes under the category of ‘adulting’ to them, and the more grown up they can seem to you (i.e. the more responsibility that you’re allowing them to have), the more they will throw themselves into something. So giving them the task of mopping the floor once a week or watering the plants every couple of days may not seem like a lot, but it definitely is a time filler that will be teaching them a valuable life lesson as the summer goes on.

Rosarita Salsa, mmmmm Good!

YUM!  I love Salsa!  I use it on many things, but the old stand by snack of chips and salsa is my favorite!  Recently I was able to try 3 new salsas from Rosarita.  The Mild Salsa Mexicana had just the right amount of kick to be flavorful and was still mild enough for my kids […]
