Thinking Of Starting Another Site

10.11.2009 by Girl on Fire // 11 Comments

Starting Another SiteI want to gauge some interest on another site I may start. Recently I have been chatting with some ladies in a local yahoo parenting group. They all have sewing machines, but none of them have a clue how to get started. From threading the machine, loading a bobbin, etc etc.  I really like Maria’s sewing site – Stich and Sew.

I am self taught in everything I do and I think I am pretty good at teaching people simpler ways of doing things. I am thinking of starting a new site dedicated to things like this. Maybe cover sewing, crafts, tattoos, graphics and anything else I know how to do (my interests cover a lot!).

Would a site like this, by me interest you?

I am one of those moms you describe for the most part. I did pull out the sewing machine a couple weeks ago and tried to remember everything I could from home ec to put together a couple halloween pirate costumes, but those only have to last one night so they are no where near well made or quality sewing.

Thanks for your comment. I am hoping to post videos and pic tutorials on all sorts of things. Do y’all think I should just put it on this site, or start a site dedicated to it?

I have a sewing machine and kinda know how to thread it… but that’s about it. I’d love to learn how to sew.

I have several machines and already know how to sew but I think for the most part, more people don’t know how to sew than know how to sew.
I think it’s an excellent idea and much needed. You could even have some time of a forum where people could ask specific questions.

Yes, and I won’t just limit it to sewing either. I already have a list of 20 questions submitted about tattoos. 🙂

I’d love to know how to thread the machine I have. I forget what I was taught in middle school Home Ec.

You can get one for real cheap Jenna. You just need one that has a straight stitch, backstitch and zigzag. That is about all you would need.

I have one of those mini sewing machines, but can’t sew for sheet! I can sew by hand a little, but I can’t make it stay! I would follow this blog (unless you want to email me a sewing for dummies!)

Smuckers Uncrustables Go Whole Wheat!

Uncrustables have stepped it up and added a Whole-Wheat Option!  I’ll be honest, when Uncrustables first came out…I was like why in the heck would I buy pre-made Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches.  Well, then I seen how awesomely portable they were and the whole from the freezer to the car thing reeled me in.
