If I have any weakness when it comes to meat it is surely Bacon. Thick cut Bacon. There is just something about Bacon. Mmmmm a tasty BLT would hit the spot any time!
I was sent Bacon and Ham products from Petit Jean Meats. They didn’t just send me any Bacon and Ham though. They sent me the official Bacon and Ham of the Dallas Cowboys. They sent both hickory smoked and peppered varieties. These are quality meats! The smoked varieties are smoked with real hickory wood about 18 hours with no liquid smoke or shortcuts. The Ham doesn’t have any added water in it either.
I’m going to talk most about the Bacon…then I will tell you what the family thought of the Ham. I don’t like Ham, so I didn’t even try it.
They told me that the bacon when cooked has less shrinkage therefore more cooked bacon per pound than some similar priced bacon. I had my doubts…
…but I was totally wrong. They were telling the truth! The bacon is amazing! Normally my family will devour a package of bacon with breakfast. They are always left wanting more and sadly, it’s always gone before they are truly done. Well with this bacon I had leftovers! Seriously! There was so much actual bacon there that I was able to bag it up for BLT’s for dinner! I love that!
Don’t you wish you had breakfast at my house? I’m sad that it is gone, but will definitely be shopping for more!
Ok, now for what my family thought of the Ham. They really loved the hickory smoked ham. They ate it up pretty quick using it for sandwiches. Morgan was the only one that liked the peppered. Everyone else thought it was a bit spicey, but they don’t like pepper. Jeremy said it was just too much pepper, but if you love pepper then this is the ham for you.
You can get the Official Bacon and Ham of the Dallas Cowboys from Petit Jean Meats at most HEB store and soon throughout other Texas grocers. You can also order it online at www. kountryspecialties.com.
I received the products mentioned above to facilitate my review. No compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
