I am so excited to tell you that The Odd Life of Timothy Green is going to open in theaters today! When I was in New York for the Avengers Event, we received a special screening of this movie with the Director Peter Hedges! I was so excited to learn that he was also the author of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape! I love that movie and it made me even more excited to watch The Odd Life of Timothy Green. It was really cool that he chose to come down and watch the movie with us.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie. The previews made me think it was going to be very fairy tale like. While it is a “tale”, there is a lot that can be taken as real life. It has a message that will hit you at your core.
Be sure to bring some tissues because there are moments that will pull at your heart strings and you will not be able to contain the tears. You will be moved by this movie.
Jim and Cindy Green want to be parents. They have tried everything medically possible to make that happen. Sadly, none of those options have worked for them and they are heart broken. In attempt to feel better they spend a night writing down who their child would have been. The dreams and hopes that we all want for our kids, they wrote them down and placed them in a box.
Jim: “Tonight, let’s have a kid.”
Cindy: “You heard what the doctor said. Give it up.”
Jim” “There we go. Our kid would never give up… You know that kind of kid that might be a glass half full person.”
Cindy: “Picasso with a pencil”
Jim: “Yes! Our kid would rock!”
Cindy: “I so agree!”
Jim: “Just once, our kid got to score the winning goal!”
A box similar to this one sent to me by Disney…
After they have prepared this list, they take it out to bury in the garden…an attempt to move on and try to be happy. Little did they know, something special was about to happen! The awake to a muddle little boy running around the house…
Timothy: “There’s something you need to know about me. I came from the garden. Please don’t ask about my leaves.”
Jim: “OK”
Cindy: “No”
Timothy is so different, so unique, raw and honest. He is not phased by some of the things that we all are phased by. There is a lesson there, be yourself and be happy with who you are.
While being coached in soccer, Timothy is pretty horrible at it. The coach wants to yell at him, but when he see’s Timothy smiling he asks…
Soccer coach: “Why are you smiling?”
Timothy: “I can only get better!”
I don’t want to tell you too much about the movie, I want you to go see it and experience it for yourself! I would love for you to come back and tell me what you thought of little amazing boy called Timothy Green!
