Sometimes it is hard to review a movie without adding spoilers. So I will be very careful.
The Boys Are Back is based on the true story of Australian Simon Carr. Simon, who is played by Clive Owen, is thrust into the role of single father. He lost his wife and the mother of his youngest son. This causes some emotional issues with the young boy, as to be expected. Bringing more emotion to the story is the return of Simon’s oldest son from his first wife.
There are a lot of emotions in this movie and they are all portrayed very clearly. You feel it. Your sad, your angry, your happy.
I can’t recall seeing a movie like this before that was about a dad. A true story of the strength of family. I would recommend it. It is not a fast paced movie, but sometimes you need to take a slower pace so you can really absorb the feelings in the movie.
The Boys are Back was released on DVD January 26th by Miramax Films & BVHE.
