This giveaway has ended. The winner was comment number 56!
Today the sniffling, sneezing, coughing..and cries of “Mama…I’m sick” began. The weather just can not make up it’s mind and we had a huge cold down pour that we got stuck in. Lauren is blaming the very cold rain for how she is feeling. It is just so pitiful when little ones are sick and you want to make them as comfortable as possible.
My girls absolutely dread getting their temperatures taken. I always loved the gadget they used at the doctors office that they swiped across the forehead. Something similar to that would be so much easier! I tried the ear things, those are so hard to get an accurate reading on because of positioning. Today was the perfect opportunity to try out the Temple Touch Thermometer that I received for review!
After opening the package I stressed that I would need batteries, nope, one touch to the power button and this baby fired right up! I had no idea how to use it and really had no interest in reading a whole pamphlet of instructions. Well, I’ll be…a quick start guide! Right up my alley! I am not one that can be still long enough to read an entire instruction manual! I was so happy that the directions were there…plain and simple!
You simply turn it on, it beeps to show power, wait to hear two more beeps and touch it to the temple area and wait for the next beep. It’s all very quick and painless. No worries of getting children to hold still for sooo long. It was over so fast! In fact I checked the temp on all three girls in less time than it would have taken to check one child with my old methods!
Temple Touch Technology
Temple Touch Thermometers aim to set the new standard in fever measurement. They are affordable, reliable, accurate and non-invasive. Both versions of the Temple Touch have a unique design & technical capabilities, enabling parents to receive quick and accurate temperature measurement by just touching the child’s temple. The temple area is a comfortable and easy measurement site, accessible when child or patient is awake or asleep.
I have one of these brilliant tools to give away! Read on for entry rules!

Wow a response time in 6 seconds! That’s amazing…..my kids HATE being still for forever to get their temp taken w/ out digital under the arm thermometer!
Thanks for taking the time to review the Temple Touch thermometer, Brandy. We’re so glad you liked it! Hope your little ones feel better soon.
main entry: I learned that some people rub down babys with an alcohol spongebath to reduce a fever and that s not recommended. Honeslty at age 49 yrs I never even heard of doing that and think that is not good at all because not only does the chemical of alcohol go into the blood stream as the site suggest the strong smell alone is not good to breath. So I learned something I never knew before that I hope no one does. Probably an old wives tale that people do but I say no to that too. great giveaway thanks!

Your soup looks warm & yummy. This reciepe sounds easy & great now that cold weather is here. Wish my daughter had taken interest in cooking at that age, she still does not like to cook. Its great when theres a true passion for cooking so good for you! Love your moms blog too. Have a great day! Julie

Ok- I agree- I had NEVER heard of wiping your baby down with rubbing alcohol. Weird. I like that it mentioned to kiss your baby’s forehead to check for a fever. I read that years ago and have been using it ever since.

When babies are teething and run a low-grade temperature it could be teething or some other problem so you have to rule out other causes and not just assume it is the teeth.

People’s Pharmacy recommended appropriate procedure for clean-up when a mercury thermometer
breaks. Temple Touch Thermometer is so much easier and accurate too.
Thanks for the contest.
If your baby is 6 months or older, call if his fever reaches 103 degrees F (39.4 degrees C) or higher to call the doctor. Seems high to me though

Will a bath help lower my child’s fever?
Used together, acetaminophen and a lukewarm bath may help lower a fever. Give the acetaminophen before the bath. If the bath is given alone, your child may start shivering as his or her body tries to raise its temperature again. This may make your child feel worse. Don’t use alcohol or cold water for baths. – BabyCenter.com

I visited the site and learned that fevers are a sign that the body is fighting an infection, so you may want to avoid giving medicine if your child is running a low-grade (up to 100.2°F) fever.

For a baby over six months, call the doctor if their temperature reaches 103+ degrees.
this is great for all new moms to have on hand at all times
the temp read from the temporal artery is the temp of blood coming direct from the heart
This seems like a great non-invasive way to take the temp. A baby over 6 months should have their doctor called if temp is over 103. Thanks for the chance.

this is a great prize and a handy one at that
Temple Touch thermometers are available at national retailers and will soon be available for purchase on this website.

I was reminded that fever means your body is fighting.
•If your baby is 6 months or older, call if his fever reaches 103 degrees F (39.4 degrees C) or higher.
Great facts!
I learned that babies up to four months old don’t control their body temperatures as well as older children. Becoming too warm is often related to how warmly they are dressed. If your baby feels warm to the touch but cools down quickly when unbundled, and is otherwise acting well, chances are it isn’t a true fever or cause for concern.
That a lukewarm bath may help reduce fever. Give acetaminophen before the bath.
Being a grandma and mother of 3, I already knew a lot of the info (kiss the forehead, lukewarm baths, etd) but didn’t know about unclothing an infant ?(>4 months) to check if it was just dressed to warm.

Never try to reduce a fever by sponging down your baby with rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol can be absorbed into your baby’s bloodstream through the skin. It can also cool him too quickly, which can actually raise his temperature. – As recommended by BabyCenter.com
