How to Study While You Travel the World

05.10.2018 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Travel and study don’t exactly seem like they should go together, but if you’re a working mom who travels and you want to broaden your horizons in work as well as in the world and open yourself up to better opportunities, it is possible to pull it off.

Sure, it will take a bit more preparation and you’ll have to be super disciplined to keep things on track, but if you can do that, you should be absolutely fine, but take a look at these tips to help you study while you travel the world just in case:

Enroll in an Online Course

The most obvious way to successfully mix studying with travel is by enroling on an online course. It would be pretty tough to study any other way if you’re always on the move really. This isn’t a problem because you can study everything from accountancy to leadership graduate programs online now and often via some really good schools too. Just take your time, check out as many courses as you can and don’t settle until you’re sure you’ve found the perfect one for you.

Ensure You Have a Good Internet Connection

Since you’ll need to get online to do turn in your assignments, access your course materials and even sit exams, before you move on from one place to the next, you’re going to want to check that  accommodation has a decent internet connection or at the very least, that there’s a decent internet cafe nearby. You can, of course, tether your smartphone for access when you need to, but a faster broadband connection will make things so much simpler for you.

Keep Your Access Details to Hand

When you’re learning online, you’ll typically have a range of passwords and websites that you’ll need to use regularly. It’s so easy to forget these when you’re having a great time traveling, so save them as favorites in your browser, write them down and keep them in your wallet and perhaps even email them to yourself so you can always study when you need to.

Make Sure You Know Your Assesment Timetable

This is a major one because if you miss a test or you’re late turning an assignment in you could fail. So, read your timetable, print it out, make notes on your calendar and ensure that you are never flying when you have an important assessment.

Identify Local Libraries

If your studying requires more research than you can find online, make it a priority to identify libraries, museums, town halls and anywhere else that you may be able to access information. That way, when you get stuck, you won’t have to use precious study time looking up places that could help.

Schedule Everything

To ensure that you spend as much time as you should studying,m you should schedule study periods along with work and fun activities. You might need to get up early or do less of one thing than you would like, but it will be worth it when you graduate and you have even more options available to your than ever before.

Take Care of Yourself

Working and traveling while you’re also studying is a lot. If you don’t eat well, get some exercise and get plenty of sleep, you could start to burn out. Don’t let that happen!

I hope this helps you to work, travel and study successfully. Good luck.
