Solid Wood Furniture, an American Tradition

01.08.2010 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

When it comes to furniture, I prefer solid wood furniture! Nothing gives me that same homey feeling.  I love the traditional looks especially.  I’m not really into the modern looking furniture.  I think it’s pretty weird, especially that “art Deco” stuff….pure crap in my opinion.

I love the look of slate top furniture.  The color of the slate against the wood is so pretty.  I love this style as a coffee or end table.  That down home feel is what I like to have in my living room.  Another wood furniture piece I have wanted is a tall jelly cabinet.  I think something like that would make for some cute storage in the girls room.  Having doors on the storage choice for their room would help it look less cluttered in there.

Right now we have an eclectic mix of furniture.  You know, things picked up from here and there?  The goal is to get everything replaced with solid wood, none of that veneer lined crud you get at the discount store.  REAL furniture is what I want.  So far we have a solid entertainment center, dining table and the J-mans desk.

Wordless Wednesday

Yesterday was a special day at Sharkarosa…the Ranch was closed to normal visitors and opened for Homeschoolers only.  I didn’t find out until yesterday morning that it was going on, so we hustled over there.  The place was JAM PACKED!   This is Texas after all, I think there are as many homeschool families as […]
