I’m happy to share 3 smoothie recipes with you that are under 200 calories each. It’s sumer, it’s hot and you need to cool down and I can not think of a better way to cool down than with an awesome healthy smoothie! Dr. Ian Smith, co-host of The Doctors and creator of Super Shred: The Big Results Diet, offers three great recipes that hit the spot and beat the heat!
Classic Blueberry Mango Smoothie (pictured above)
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
- 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
- 1 cup mango chunks
- ¼ cup vanilla soy milk, almond milk, skim milk, or water
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- ¼ cup ice chips, optional
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth. Refrigerate until drink is desired temperature. If you want to drink immediately, simply add ¼ cup ice chips to the ingredients.
Fruit Power Smoothie
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 4
- 1 cup strawberries
- ½ cup blueberries
- 1 kiwi, peeled & sliced
- 1 banana, peeled & chopped
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 8-ounce container peach yogurt
- ½ cup orange juice (not from concentrate)
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth. Refrigerate until drink is desired temperature.
Green Power Machine
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
- ½ cup apple, peeled, cored, & chopped
- 4 kale leaves chopped
- ½ cup chopped mango
- 6 romaine leaves chopped
- ¼ cup fresh parsley sprigs
- 1 inch fresh ginger root, peeled & chopped
- 1 cup of water
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth. Refrigerate until drink is desired temperature.
