The Power of a Smile with Smile Train #PowerOfASmile

05.02.2014 by Girl on Fire //

Over the last few years I haven’t smiled as much. I lost my pretty smile with my illness as it ruined my teeth. I know how damaging it has been for my self esteem. Now, just imagine being a child born with a cleft lip and palate. Imagine how damaging that could be to them. It makes me forget my problem and wonder what can be done to help. Well, Smile Train is helping with the Power of a Smile!

?So what exactly is Smile Train?

Smile Train is a children’s charity that runs internationally. They give kids with cleft lips and palates the power of a smile. Cleft lips and palates are something that can be solved with surgery, but many people can not afford the surgery. There are millions of children in developing countries with this condition un-repaired.

It doesn’t just effect their self esteem, but it also causes issues with eating, speaking and even breathing! This is something that a relatively simple surgery can take care of.

Smile Train provides training and funding in over 85 developing countries with local doctors to provide cleft repair surgery in their communities for free. Yes, FREE! Can you imagine the life’s they are changing?

On the Power of a Smile website, you can read real stories and see real photos of REAL people that have been helped. It is amazing how a life can transform with a new smile! Smile Train has transformed more than one million lives. About 340 surgeries a day and 127,000 every year! Lives are being changed!

The surgery takes about 45 minutes and can cost as little as $250! Be sure to head over and see how you can share the message and help!

Smile Train has a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate. Smile Train’s model provides training and funding to empower local doctors in developing countries provide 100%- free cleft repair surgery in their communities.
