Six Eyewear Trends, And What They Say About You

02.16.2016 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Six Eyewear Trends

How often do we hear about the importance of making a good first impression? Probably at least once a week. And something that can make a lasting impact and tell somebody else a little bit about who you are is what you choose to wear on your eyes. Eyewear has come a long way since the days when bespectacled scientists running around laboratories. Now glasses have become a style icon. A symbol, often of sophistication. Here is a rundown of the latest trends, and what they say about the wearer.

High-Fashion

Think Calvin Klein, Vogue and Valentino. High-fashion glasses are for the person who wants to convey a sense of sophistication and status. Often this style evoke a sense of playfulness and individuality. Glasses can come in many different designs, but each has been tailored to exemplary standards. Thick rims used to be a no-no, but now, it appears, they’re back. And with none of the awkwardness of their former selves. Go on http://www.lensdirect.com/ for some bargains.

Trendy

If you’re someone that’s a little bit cheeky, you most likely have a pair of trendy glasses. They’re grown up one minute, big kid the next. Again, expect thick rims with some models sporting a patterned design. Lacoste, Guess and Chloe have all gone in for the idea, offering many different styles for the discerning consumer. Expect a choice of round, square and rectangular rims.

Business

In what aspect of life is it more important to make a good first impression than in business? Whilst dating? Well, you have trendy glasses for that. But when it comes to business, this is the style you want to go for. Wearing a pair of business glasses evokes a sense of professionalism. That, in turn, generates a sense of trust.

Business is fundamentally about trust. Can a client or customer trust you to provide a good service or do a good job? Choosing the right glasses can give you an edge. You don’t want to appear ostentatious, but you don’t want to appear amateur. This style strikes the right balance.

Nerdy

Fashions come and fashions go. But nerdy is back. Maybe it has to do with the fact that even the biggest jocks are now utterly dependent on the creations of nerds. We’ve decided to give them a break. In fact, we’ve done more than that. It’s now kinda cool to be a nerd. Nerdy glasses are now stylish caricatures of their former selves. Expect oversized rims and bright colours. Good designers include Burberry and Ray-Ban.

Hipster

Finally, there is hipster. If you consider yourself to be a socially mobile and gentrified youth, perhaps this is the sort of pretentious look you want to go for. Hey, whilst you’re at it, you can grow some facial hair too.

On a more serious note, this style is probably best suited for students. You want to look as if you could solve any math problem thrown at you, but at the same time let everyone know that you just can’t be bothered. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
