Shop for Groceries on a Budget

Shop for Groceries on a Budget

Most families these days are on a food budget, but some families don’t know how to shop for groceries on a budget. To grocery shop on a budget, you need to cut back on the amount of money you spend on food. One way to do that is by using coupons.

There are millions of coupons circulating every day. These coupons could help cut your food budget by 30 to 50% – even more if you’re willing to take the time to turn couponing into a passion.

It does take some work and dedication, but it is possible to become a super saving shopper.  It can be done and you can save a lot of money.  Remember, coupons are designed to sell a certain product and get you in the store, but do not by something you don’t need just because you have a coupon for it!

Where to Find Coupons

The Sunday newspaper is usually loaded with coupons.  You can also look online, I even post printable coupons here on Not So Average Mama on a regular basis.  Some stores issue coupons at checkout for use on your next trip. I also often find coupons that I need at the store from the coupon dispensers located in the aisles. Furthermore, signing up to sites such as Rakuten allows you to access the best sams club promo codes as well as get cash back on your shopping – win-win!

Organize your Coupons

Organize before you shop. Keep coupons sorted with an organizer made for couponing. Some coupons have mail in rebates so pay attention to this so you can follow up.

Save More with a Store Loyalty Card

Sign up for a store loyalty card that usually offers coupons plus bonus points that are cumulative each time you shop. Using a store’s own credit card can also earn you more points or discounts.

Shop the Sales

By shopping the store sales and combining them with your coupons savings, you can save even more. If an item you have a coupon for is not on sale, try to  wait until it’s on sale to buy.
