Scouting Swaps, Crafting Going On!

07.19.2011 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

This week is the camp out for American Heritage Girls and we are crafting like mad!  See, the girls are doing SWAPS for camp.  Do you know what SWAPS are?  There are actually 2 meanings…

  • “Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere”
  • “Share With A Pal”

Had I known in advance we were doing this I would have planned more accordingly to find the proper crafting supplies.  The local stores really don’t have much to work with, so we had to make due.  Next time I will be prepared and order from a place like FactoryDirect Craft so that we have more choices with our supplies.

I would love to have purchased some miniatures to use for the swaps.

What I would like to have done for this years camping swaps was use these small wooden signs to embellish with our troop number and the date as well as the name of our camping event.

It would have been cute to even add these small lady bugs onto the signs as well.  Then all that would need to be done is add a pin back to it so the girls could attach them to their hats.  Wouldn’t that have been so cute?I know the girls would have loved them! Next time I will be prepared.  I’m going to stock up on miniatures so that I am never caught without supplies again!

Anyhow, we are almost finished with our SWAPS.  I’ll post up photos of them when we are done.  Morgan is making miniature friendship bracelets, Lauren made miniature camp autograph books and Emma used foam stickers to put the troop # and AHG on little pieces of craft foam.

Again, had I had time I would have ordered these supplies as well.  The craft foam is so much cheaper to order from Factory Direct Craft.  Ahhh…you live and you learn….

That’s awesome! Go for it that’s an excellent idea. I’m sure the girls would love it.
