School Starts Tomorrow!

09.06.2010 by Girl on Fire // 5 Comments

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day in our house! We start school!  Morgan also starts Volleyball tomorrow!  I’m almost thinking about having tomorrow JUST be about volleyball and start school Wednesday instead so we can have  a smooth flowing day without leaving the house.

So we are still tweaking the curriculum for this year.  We are using  christian homeschool curriculum as we always do.  By tweaking I just mean finding what works for each child at any given time.  This can change several times in a year!

We found a math curriculum that Morgan loves.  In fact she loves it so much she started on it over 2 weeks ago!  She thinks it is fun, so that is a huge plus this year.  She normally hates math!

Lauren is still working on reading so we will be spending a lot of time with that for the first few months.  She is such a fast learner and I think she will have it down in no time!

Emma is just going to hang out with us and participate with the group subjects, listen to stories with us, etc.  I don’t like pushing them this early.  Heck, I don’t ever really push them.  We encourage.  If you push then it’s no fun anymore and no one is happy, including mama.

So did you start school yet?

I really would like to home school the kids because I feel like I never see them. Plus, there are so many cool ways to teach things other than sitting at a desk in a classroom. But, my divorce papers state I have to get the ex’s permission to home school. 🙁 Not to mention my boys are all into school football.
    🙁

You should really talk to your lawyer. In the state of Texas, Homeschooling is considered a PRIVATE SCHOOL. Would you have to have his permission for that? Also, contact the HSLDA. For a little over $100 a year you have legal covered for Homeschool and I bet you could probably ask them about this as well. Seriously, even some of our state reps homeschool.

OH and your kids can still participate in public school sports! It’s the law! You pay taxes…they can use all the extra curricular activities!

PS. Morgan’s hair looks cool. I want to see another pic so I can see the full effect.

Ro started school August 11th. We are almost a month in. LOL It feels strange because all my life, school has started AFTER Labor Day, not before.

I feel like I missed something. My whole schedule is off.

National Coffee Day, September 29th with Eight O’Clock Coffee #Recipes

You all know by now that I am a coffee junkie.  I have admitted it time and time again.  I have no shame over it.  I love it!  I know I need to cut back a bit, but I will never deny myself of this one simple joy in my life. Tomorrow is National Coffee […]
