SANUS and Safe Kids Worldwide Launch TV Safety Initiative, SANUS Flat Screen T.V. Tilting Mount #Giveaway

06.06.2013 by Girl on Fire // 21 Comments

You know, I had never even considered the dangers of a flat screen T.V. and kids.  The thought has never crossed my mind.  I had certainly never heard of a TV Safety Initiative.  I just learned that a child is killed every three weeks from an unsecured TV.  It’s a very real danger that I don’t think that many of us have thought about.  Think about this, every 45 minutes a child visits an emergency room due to a TV tip-over related injury.  EVERY 45 MINUTES!

  • Between 2000 and 2011, 215 fatalities have resulted from TV tip-over
  • An estimated 17,000 people each year, the majority of which are children, are treated for injuries from TV tip-overs

A simple way to prevent this?  A Sanus Flat Screen T.V. Tilting Mount!SANUS and Safe Kids WorldwideNot only do they look great and take up less space, but they could prevent a death or injury!  I am sure you will agree that the safety of our children is important.  Isn’t it great that there are simple options out there to help us have safer homes?

I knew they could pose a danger but I had no idea at the high number of children who are hurt or killed – that is a staggering statistic!

I’ve definitely thought about the dangers of our flatscreen falling on our toddler and I’ve seen CPSC warnings with unfortunate stories of split-second fatalities from unsecured flatscreens, even with parents sitting nearby. Ours is on a kitchen cart that we wheel out of a closet, usually to watch TV after my son goes to bed, but I’d love to get my closet back and put our TV up on the wall.

Yes, i’ve thought about it – i know people that put gates around their TVs but i would rather mount it on the wall.

Yes, I have worried about the TV on a stand in our bedroom around our daughter. It seems a little unstable

I knew about this as an issue with those big TVs (old school style). Never realized the issue was still prevalent as TVs got lighter and more modern. The video was educational.

Ever since I read a story of a child dying due to unprotected furniture being unmounted, I really think about this kind of thing. I think it’s a must have for any home with children.

I haven’t – certainly good to have a heads up on this kind of thing – i’ve read most serious injuries and fatalities occur in the home – guess this is one countermeasure to that!
