Getting Upscale with Cheese at Sam’s Club, a Recipe and a Contest!

09.23.2010 by Girl on Fire // 8 Comments

I have not met many people in my life that did not love cheese!  There are so many different kinds and varieties that everyone’s tastes are pretty much covered.  Sometimes though, those cheeses can be quite pricey!  Sam’s Club is changing that for us though!

In the Sam’s Club way, they are bringing these cheeses to us “common folks” at amazing prices!

Sam’s Club is adding 24 internationally acclaimed varieties to the fresh department!

These are world famous cheeses that normally we would not be able to indulge in due to the cost…not anymore though!  We can have all the fancy cheeses we want at a fraction of the cost you would expect to have to pay.  The cheeses come from some of the highest quality European brands that are mostly family owned operations.

Not too long ago I was sent a package, I assumed I would be getting samples….oh no…My home was over run with cheese of amazing quality and variety!  From these cheeses I selected some to form a recipe around.  It was a lot of fun and the end result was amazing.  I’m going to share my recipe with you today!

Sausage Linguine and Broiled Tomatoes Recipe

This started out as our favorite family recipe.  I used the basic recipe that we all loved and kicked it up with some of the new cheeses that you will soon be finding in Sam’s Club (some are already available!).  Adding these cheeses just kicked this recipe even higher as the family favorite!  I didn’t know it was possible for it to get better!  It did!

The Ingredients

  • Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Spinach Asiago Chicken Sausage (this stuff is AMAZING)
  • Green Onions
  • Garlic
  • Italian Seasoning Mix
  • Olive Oil
  • Linguine
  • Big Tomatoes
  • Asiago Fresco
  • Mario Batali Organic Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Parrano
  • DaVinci Gouda

The Recipes

The first thing you want to do is grab a big pot and fill it with water and a splash of olive oil.  Bring this to a boil and prepare your linguine al dente.  Drain and toss with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.

In a large skillet brown the sliced Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Spinach Asiago Chicken Sausage.  After it starts to brown you need to add olive oil to the skillet.  It’s going to look like a lot of oil, but this acts as your sauce and you need enough to generously coat the pasta when you add it.  I usually pour it in until it is about a 1/2 in deep.  Once the oil is hot you want to add sliced green onions (I use one whole bunch as packaged), a finely chopped garlic clove and Italian seasoning mix.  I don’t really measure things, I just season it until it is smelling really good and you can clearly see the spices in the oil.  You will want to saute this until the onions and garlic start to get brown and almost caramelized looking.

Once this is prepared you pour in over the linguine and mix well so all of the pasta is coated with the oil mixture.  I then add small chunks of the Asiago Fresco so that it can melt into the pasta mixture.  Once plated you will want to grate the Mario Batali Organic Parmigiano Reggiano and Parrano over top of the pasta, season with salt and pepper to taste…mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

For the broiled tomatoes you want to make some nice thick slices.  Lay them on a baking sheet and top with DaVinci Gouda.  This cheeses is so awesome!  This full cream cheese is made from pure Dutch cow’s milk and filled with tomatoes, olives and seasonings and a dash of garlic.  Place this in your oven or broiler until the cheeses is melted and browned.  AMAZING!

This meal was one of those that you will just keep eating and eating until you feel close to exploding!  If you try it please let me know what you thought of it!

Wordless Wednesday, I Just Got a Whole Lot Tougher

I don’t just mean tougher looking…I mean tougher in general.  I know I am horribly behind on updating my blog, but I am recovering from a surgery that pretty much kicked my ass several times over. I sit here and I stay at the computer trying to get the thoughts together so I can blog…sometimes […]
