Get Organized

First of all, plan your week ahead. Get a weekly planner or diary and fill in all your work and social commitments. You should also include any of your children’s clubs or sports sessions. Take a look at the free time you have. It is into these gaps that you need to plan all your household chores and activities. Splitting up your time in a planner will help you stick to each job as planned. As you will only have a limited amount of time – an hour, say – in which to do the ironing, you will be more productive. And are more likely to get it done in that hour! It also helps you limit your time spent vegging in front of the TV! It is also a good idea to write all your weekly plans into a calendar or wall planner so that the rest of your family can see. This way, they will always know where you are and what you are busy with. Encourage them to fill in their engagements as well, so you always know where to find them.

Plan Your Budget

Just like with planning your weekly activities and tasks, you should plan your weekly budget. This gives you an idea of how much you have to spend on essentials. Once you set this money to one side, you can then see how much cash you have left over for fun stuff like family days out. Planning your budget like this will prevent you from going over the top and splurging your cash. Not only that but it will encourage you to save money for big purchases like a summer holiday or a new car.

Ask For Help

If you find that it is a bit too much to juggle all your tasks with work and looking after the kids, don’t be afraid to reach out for help from people. Get your partner to help out whenever they have the chance. It is a good idea to split all the chores and general household maintenance between the two of you. Why not get your husband or boyfriend to do all the outdoor work and DIY projects while you take care of cooking and cleaning. Split up childcare equally between the two of you. If you take the kids to their music lessons one day, make sure your partner takes them next time. Sharing everything is a great way to prevent things from building up in your schedule. This gives you more time for fun things and catching up with friends. There are a lot more tricks for splitting up chores online: http://www.swimmingly.com/relationships/couples/how-to-divide-chores-so-you-dont-kill-each-other/. If you find that there is still too much to do between the two of you, think about hiring a nanny or cleaner to help you out.

Include The Kids

Once your kids are old enough, get them to help out with some small chores and tasks. This will give you and your partner a helping hand and it is also a great way to teach the kids about responsibilities. By regularly taking part in all the household jobs, they will quickly learn the importance of running a successful home. It is certainly one of the best ways to prepare them for moving out when to they go to college. If your kids aren’t too keen to help you out, you can always motivate them with pocket money. By doing this, you’ll also be teaching them about the importance of money and saving up. One of the easiest things kids can help you with is cooking and baking. Young children will love getting messy in the kitchen! Teach them cookery skills early on so by the time they are teenagers; they’ll be able to cook you and your partner a delicious meal!
