Some modern appliances are difficult for people to do without. Among the most valuable and useful commodities in the modern household are freezers. For this reason, it would be best to set aside some time and effort before making a purchase.
The Value Of Shopping Wisely
Kitchen appliances can use up a lot of electricity, but shopping wisely can result in reducing the size of your energy bills quite considerably. The purchase of an energy efficient freezer will not only result in saving money regarding energy bills, but you will also be helping the environment and reducing your carbon footprint.
How To Determine That Your Appliance Will Be Energy Efficient
Ways of determining that an appliance is energy efficient include checking its grade. Many international governing bodies have guides in place for energy efficiency and white goods are graded and labelled accordingly. It’s actually part of EU law that all fridges and freezers sold in the US have to have an energy label, and that all models sold since July 1st, 2012 have to, at the very minimum, have an A+ rating. There are exceptions if A or B rated models were already in stock. For a fridge or freezer grades can go up to A+++. G symbolises the least energy efficient type of appliance. One easy way of identifying whether or not an appliance is highly energy efficient, and is recognised as being Energy Saving Recommended, is to also look for a blue logo.
The rating system also considers energy consumption relative to the size of a particular appliance. This is because a B-rated appliance may use up a lot less electricity than an appliance with a higher rating.
When It’s Time To Buy A New Appliance
If a fridge freezer is more than ten years old then it’s probably the right time to choose a new model. Advances in modern technology mean that the cost of purchasing a new appliance can be balanced by the running costs being less, which will be due to greater efficiency. Usually, the smaller the freezer the less expensive it will be to run.
The information above was submitted as a guest post. I found the information very useful since we are looking into freezers right now. I would love to read your comments and insight as well. Any recommendations?
