Prescription Savings Club from Walgreens

01.12.2012 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

With all of my medication needs and having no insurance I am always looking for a way to save more money.  Apparently Walgreens Prescription Savings Club.  It only costs $10 a year for a family membership.  You can get an individual plan for only $5 for a year.

Walgreens has set up this program to help ease some of the burden caused by the Walgreens and Express Script contract issue.  Apparently Express Script is no longer using Walgreens as a provider.  This has placed a burden on people that use Express Scripts.  They no longer have access to 24 hour Walgreens Pharmacies. Some people are having to drive further (spending more money on gas) to other pharmacies now.

You may not be affected by this.  It only applies to certain prescription insurance plans that are managed by Express Scripts.  You can check with your Walgreens pharmacist or check the back of your insurance card to see if it has Express Scripts’ name on it.  If it is there then you may be affected.

With the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club, Walgreens hopes to ease some of the burden associated with Prescription costs.  You can get savings on over 8,000 brand-name and all generic medications.  You can also get discounts on the flu shot, prescriptions for your pets and even on nebulizers and diabetic supplies.

There is even some bonus perks!  You can get those by purchasing Walgreens brand products and using their photo finishing services!  I’m about to get one of these plans for my family.

Do you have insurance?  Do you use a prescription discount plan?
