Playing with Food to Help Picky Eaters #TysonPickyEaters (share your success story for a chance to win a $1,000!)

I’ve been pretty lucky with my girls.  For the most part they will try anything at least once.  That is pretty amazing considering I am a horribly picky eater.  I know, I am such a bad role model!  But we have kept eating fun by cooking together and using Bento style foods as well.  Playing with food always gets my kids eating!

I have come to realize that if I let my children take part in the cooking and creating, they will most definitely eat more of it because they helped make it.

Cooking it together is not only fun, but it is educational as well!  My kids have successfully learned math in the kitchen.  Bento is art class!  With Bento, my kids get an opportunity to play with their food, be creative and eat healthy.

There are many websites online that can give you some great ideas for Bento meals.  Pinterest is a great place to start.  I have a Bento Fun board on Pinterest as well if you would like to check it out.  The key to this is to let them help.  Make it fun. The Bento meals do not have to be perfect!  Give them some cookie cutters and let them make their sandwiches from cute shapes.

You can easily prep some fruits and veggies to be the “art” supplies for your kids.  Get creative and don’t push for perfection.  I know you will want to take over, but let them do their best and they will be more inclined to gobble it all up when it’s all finished.  Take photos!

Chicken Nuggets are great for Bento. They are also fun to eat. You can let your kids decorate the bite-sized, friendly shapes with sauces. They are the perfect size for little mouths and hands.

You do not need to spend a lot of money to do Bento.  You can use regular plates!  Also Tyson has a cute Funny Face Plate that you can get for FREE through Facebook!  Imagine the fun they can have playing with food on their own funny face plate!

New research shows that “playing with food” can be a good thing.  Just use it as a tool to help get the kids to eat right.  No food fights please!

Tyson® Chicken Nuggets are a great start at a healthy plate. Learn how to get a free colorful plate to make mealtime more fun!

Now that I’ve shared how I got my picky eaters to eat balanced meals, share your success story for a chance to win a $1,000!
