Peri-Menopause and Menopause, What’s the Deal?

04.25.2011 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

So, I’m going to be 37 this year and I’ve started to wonder a bit about Menopause.  Last year when I had the tumor is when I really started thinking about it.

Losing an Ovary and Fallopian Tube had some huge hormonal effects on my body.  The biggest one being Hot Flashes.  Holy cow are those things miserable!  I was getting them like crazy and then they subsided a little.  I still have bouts with them and I wonder if this is the beginning of Menopause.

What I learned was that Peri-Menopause is the term used to describe the menopause transition years.  I’m thinking that is where I am.  I still have my period, but things have definitely changed.  For me it’s hard to tell what symptoms are coming form my illness and which symptoms may be Peri-Menopause. Thankfully the Estroven website is available to answer some of my questions.

Here are some of the most common menopause symptoms that I found on the Estroven website:

  • Changes in menstrual periods
  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Forgetfulness
  • Moodiness
  • Changes in urination
  • Weight gain and shift
  • Headache
  • Palpitations
  • Joint pain
  • Loss of bone density
  • Skin, hair, and eye changes

I learned that Estroven has a line of products that provide all-natural menopause symptom relief.  All-Natural is like music to my ears.  I sure don’t want to add anymore drugs to my daily pill regimen!  Natural is what I always try first.

  • Estroven® plus Multi-Vitamin: Estroven® plus Multi-Vitamin combines menopausal symptom relief with a multi-vitamin for women. Estroven® plus Multi-Vitamin contains a unique Mood & Memory blend to support mood and memory function, as well as mild to moderate hot flashes.
  • Estroven® Maximum Strength:  Estroven® Maximum Strength was created for women who may be experiencing more bothersome menopause symptoms.
  • Estroven® Nighttime:  Estroven® Nighttime helps promote natural sleep patterns to help you sleep through the night and wake feeling refreshed without morning grogginess.*
  • Estroven® plus Energy:  The Estroven® plus Energy formula naturally supports the energy you need to stay productive and energized all day, while reducing hot flashes and night sweats.*

I’m going to be talking to my doctor at my check-up and asking her about this.  With her help I am sure we can determine what symptoms are part of my existing illness and what symptoms are caused by Peri-Menopause.  It’s been almost 1 year since my surgery, so it’s time to check on things.  I will be giving the Estroven products first shot at controlling symptoms.  I actually think I’ll go ahead and start taking the Estroven® plus Multi-Vitamin.

Estroven® formulas contain:

  • Soy isoflavones
  • Standardized black cohosh
  • Calcium and boron
  • Natural vitamins E, B-6, B-12, and folic acid
  • Estroven® calming herbal blend (to help reduce and manage irritability)
  • Estroven® balancing herbal blend (for energy)
  • B-vitamins

It’s so great that there are these natural options out there that we can learn about instead of getting another RX!  Here is a $3.00 off coupon so that you can try Estroven for yourself!  Be sure to like Estroven on Facebook as well so that you can keep up to date with the company!  You can also join their Brand Ambassador Rewards Program to earn great rewards!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Estroven and received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I never did use any of the meds when I went through menopause… but then I didnt have alot of symptoms that were bothersome. When I had hot flashes (or flushed) it was during the winter, which actually was darn nice becuase usually I always about freeze to death 🙂
What I found to be more odd was perimenopause- really I thought I was going bonkers for awhile. Mood swings, forgetfulness, my skin went dry as a bone, and my weight went whacky (I had never had a belly, now I have one) After I stopped my period completely, about the only thing remaining is the belly and eyesight changes but I think the weight is becuase I mess round on the computer too much 😉
Talk to your doctor- most of the stuff in Estroven is natural, but if you are on meds, you never know what it can react to- ex: melatonin is in one of them- so check.
    Menopasue isn;t that bad!
