While I was in New York for The Avengers, we were able to catch a few other movie screenings as well. People Like Us was one of those movies.
I actually have been disappointed with a lot of the movies I have seen in the last few years and this movie was a great surprise for me. It was absolutely fantastic! I thought it was so fantastic that my tweeting about it was even featured in the movie trailer!
People Like Us has a great cast, including Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde and Michelle Pfeiffer. But my favorite? Michael Hall D’Addario! He plays the young boy in the movie and was great! I hope to see him in more films.
People Like Us shows family dysfunction, love and overcoming the past. It pulls you in right from the beginning with amazing characters that you totally connect with. I laughed, I cried and I totally “related”. Definitely have some tissue ready, you’re most likely going to need it!
Sam (played by Chris Pine)is a young, fast-talking salesman. He is getting in over his head at his job when he received news that his father has died. He doesn’t really have a relationship with his father and even though he tries everything to get out of it, he must go home and put his father’s estate in order.
The tension is thick between his mother (Michelle Pfeiffer) and him. Part of his duties in settling the estate and his father’s last wishes he uncovers that he has a 30-year-old sister named Frankie (Elizabeth Banks).
I can’t tell you much more without spoiling it, just know that you will be touched by this movie! You will walk out thinking about your own life and family. The film is inspired by true events too!

I watched People Like Us as part of The Avenger’s Event with Disney. No compensation was received for this post and all opinions are my own.
