Recently I was sent a box of Outlast Hand Sanitizer by Mom Select. I had never used the product before and had never heard of it until then. I decided to share the samples with some of my mom friends at Volleyball. We meet 2 times per week, so I thought this was a perfect group to let try it.
First I want to share some facts about the product and then I will share my groups as well as my own thoughts.
This is taken from their online press info:
OutLast™ Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer controls germs for up to 6 hours, unlike 2-minute competitors
Fort Worth, Texas – With the first day of school just around the corner, parents need to know that most hand sanitizers work for only about 2 minutes… about the time it takes to load a child onto the school bus. But there is good news for parents and teachers – introducing OutLast™ Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer. A new hand sanitizer that can control germs for up to 6 hours! What’s 6 hours? Almost an entire school day!
Since 2004, surgeons and other healthcare professionals have used the patented formula in OutLast™ Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer because it is extremely effective at killing germs on contact, and it continues controlling germs for up to 6 hours. Typical hand sanitizers last only about 2 minutes, leaving hands vulnerable to germs the next time they touch a contaminated surface. OutLast™ Hand Sanitizer’s patented formula goes the extra mile – by controlling germs for up to 6 hours. It’s a reassuring thought given that some bacteria can live on surfaces such as desks and cafeteria tables for up to 2 hours. Why even bother using a hand sanitizer that only works for 2 minutes?
With about 20% of the American population either attending school or working in a school, the classroom is a hot spot for spreading germs. Sick children miss millions of school days every year in the United States. That’s more work than most parents can afford to miss – and vital study-time students can’t afford to lose. The Centers for Disease Control emphasizes that washing hands frequently helps stop the spread of harmful germs, but when soap and water aren’t available, it considers alcohol-based hand sanitizers to be the next-best option. OutLast™ Hand Sanitizer’s patented formula contains alcohol to kill germs on contact. Then, it uses patented technology to work for up to 6 hours. It also contains moisturizers. And, unlike gel instant hand sanitizers that can feel sticky, OutLast™ Hand Sanitizer leaves hands feeling silky.
The CDC also recommends that students get plenty of sleep and physical activity, drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet in order to stay healthy all year. Considering how many germy surfaces children touch during the school day – toilet seats, pencils, desks – OutLast™ Hand Sanitizer may win a spot at the top of every mom and dad’s back-to-school shopping list. OutLast™ Hand Sanitizer may be used on children age 2 and older with adult supervision. OutLast™ Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer is marketed by Healthpoint, Ltd., a specialty pharmaceutical company located in Fort Worth, Texas. OutLast™ Hand Sanitizer is available online at www.outlastgerms.com and by calling 1-877-618-5872.
6 hours! How impressive is that? I have a friend that has a baby (baby Darby on my blog) and they are waiting for a liver transplant. Janna uses hand sanitizer like crazy. When I told her about Outlast she was extremely interested. The 6 hour part is what did it!
When I am out shopping or in public places I freak out. People are sneezing and then touching, coughing then touching, kids are hands in the mouth and then touching. Germs are being passed around like mad and I don’t want to get the cooties!
My personal thoughts on it: I can pretty much say that I am sold on the fact that it lasts 6 hours. I don’t care if it is scented or not, thick or runny…just the fact that it lasts and works is all I need. This is a hand sanitizer used by hospitals. I also loved the fact that it did not leave a sticky residue at all. That was a huge plus for me.
Thoughts from my group of moms: The 6 hours was a hit. They were not very happy with the amount of alcohol in it and did not care to smell it. They did all agree that the smell faded away very fast and there was no lingering scent. They said they liked that it was not sticky, no residue feeling left over. They did think it was a bit runny and said they wished it was thicker to make it easier to apply on small children. I too agree with them on that fact. I wish it was a bit thicker as well, but that is not a deal breaker for me or them.
The germy season is descending upon us, I know I’ll have Outlast on hand!
Outlast is now available at select Albertsons grocery stores throughout Texas and Louisiana. You can get a sample of Outlast by clicking here.
I received samples of outlast to sample, share and review with my mom group. No compensation was received.

Does anyone know where to buy Outlast Hand Sanitizer online? I can’t seem to find it anywhere, and all of the links to the “free sample” page (which I’ve found on several reviews) is broken. It’s awesome that someone has finally come up with a long lasting hand sanitizer. I never realized that all of the mass-marketed sanitizers only last for 2 minutes after application! That renders them virtually ineffective. I work in an office with 3 women who have little kids and the parents always seem to act as carriers – tracking the germs into the office and making the two employees without children dreadfully ill. Would LOVE to get some of this Outlast product!!
