This post brought to you by Ashworth College. All opinions are 100% mine.
I think I told you all that I am a two time college drop out. That was when I was way younger. Sometimes I think about taking college level courses but I don’t see where I have the time to actually leave my home to go to a class like that. It seems like more and more of my friends are taking Online College classes and it has me interested.
Did you know that more than 1/5 of all college students are taking at least one class online, if not all of them? Recently my friend Janna enrolled in online college courses. She has a daughter who is ill and this was the best way for her to complete her college education. I think it’s wonderful that she has that option! Years ago there would have been no option for her. See for her, daycare would not be an option so this is the only continued education option for her.
I learned that this is something that would actually work for me when I read about Ashworth College Featured by National Education Report. I was especially inspired about online college after checking out the Ashworth Video Gallery.
I love that you can be self paced. This is something I would need. Sometimes I have to read the same thing over and over before my ill brain will actually recognize what I just read. I would really just like to take some classes that would give me some more technical knowledge in some of the fields I already practice and work in.
The classes online are much more affordable too. As much as 80% less to earn your bachelors degree online as opposed to physically going to a college. That is a lot of savings! Oh and another huge thing, ZERO percent Financing and low payments! They do not do student loans, so there is not going to be any student loan debt by continuing your education with them. Also, your tuition includes all of your books and course materials.
You can choose from more than 100+ nationally accredited career diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and Certificate programs in many areas. Some of the available areas of study are Medical Billing, Web Design, Bridal Consulting, Interior Decorating, Human Resources, Marketing, Early Childhood Education and more.
I’m not saying I’m doing it, but it is something I have been thinking about lately. What about you…did you go to college? Do you want to continue your education now as a parent?

I’m in school online… and I couldn’t do it any other way. However, I want to mention that the idea of online schooling being “self-paced” thing is sort of misleading. Yes, you can log on to class any time of day, but there are still assignment deadlines and attendance policies, etc. In my experience, online learning can actually be more demanding and faster paced than in an actual classroom.
THat being said I do enjoy being in school again, even though I do occasionally crave being in a real classroom.
Online classes worked for me when the older kids were younger. I was very lucky with my supervisor at that time to log in at work and complete my assignments and leave to take any tests that I needed. Now we have a teen and he is considering taking an online course due to budget cuts at school. Our high school cut the transportation to a lot of the industrial arts classes and this will be his way to get ready for college in a couple of years.
