Even homeschooling brings some back to school expenses. My girls are in scouting that runs with the school year, as well as sports! School uniforms are used for scouting, so these can bring in some expenses. The girls still need fall/winter wardrobes even if they are not in public school. Emma usually can wear all of Lauren’s hand me downs, but Morgan and Lauren have no hand me downs. Sports pulls in the need for shoes, shorts and sporting goods.
We still use paper, notebooks, pencils, markers, crayons, paint, glue, as well as a ton of crafting supplies. We have needs even as homeschoolers. I always look for a way to save on those items. I try to never pay full price for anything! In fact I try to get as much as I can second hand, but that isn’t possible with everything.
One place that I find coupons is at http://www.savings.com! For instance, right now they have a coupon up for 7% off at Barnes and Nobles. I need to see if that can be combined with my teachers discount card. If so, that would be great because there are still a few books we are searching for that we have not been able to find used yet.
There is also a great coupon up right now for an extra 10-20% off at Macy’s! This is on top of clearance and sale prices! This would probably be a great place to check out uniforms. You can even find coupon codes to save on magazine subscriptions as well. I like to watch these because there are some publications that we love to have delivered for the kids.
Right now I am on the hunt for an affordable desk top computer just for Lauren and Emma to use. Of course I’ll try to find one used first, but some of the deals to be found on a new system are fantastic!
