My Parents are Coming!

11.12.2012 by Girl on Fire // 2 Comments

I’m so happy that my parents are coming down to visit in December.  I have a lot to do though.  My house is a mess….eek!  It happens when you are a family of 5 that all work from home with jobs and school.  We are ALWAYS here.  Our house is very lived in.

So in preparation of my parents coming we have a schedule of things to get done around here.  I’m talking decluttering, deep cleaning….all of it.  Wanna help?

One of the things that I need to get done is area rug cleaning as well as the carpet in general.  Morgan fostered two cats recently.  They were kenneled, but I still feel like the carpets need to be cleaned because my mom has asthma.  I used to have a rug cleaner, but it was bulky and hard to use, so I got rid of it.  I think I need to look into having someone come in and do this for me.  We seriously need the stairs leading up to the second floor done, as well as the 2 bedrooms that the girls use.  I imagine it will make it look a lot newer once it is done, not too mention it will probably smell a lot better up there!

That is probably the only think I will need some help with and I’ll be looking into hiring someone to see how much it costs.  Other than that it is just general decluttering and organizing.  I found some apps for my iPad and plan on making lists and breaking it down in to little chunks.  If the girls and I all tackle one area at a time I bet we can fly right through it.

So are you like me?  Would you freak to get things done and in order before your parents come?  Eeeeeeek!

As someone who used t have a house full of teenage boys and a few cats I can tell you that you will LOVE the way your carpets look, feel, and smell if you get a good company to come in and do it. It’s pricey and something of a hassle, but it makes your place seem new and actually extends the life of your carpet.
