A few months back we were sent POM Wonderful to try out. I have to be completely honest and tell you that as much as I wanted to like it, I just couldn’t handle it. My girls on the other hand, could not get enough of it! I think for me it was just too strong and I sometimes have an intolerance of juices.
I did water the juice down for this girls, this is something I do with all juices though. I’m glad the girls loved it because POM Wonderful is full of antioxidants!
What are Antioxidants?
Every day, your body is exposed to free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage the cells in your body in a process often referred to as oxidative stress.
Where do they come from? Everywhere. Not only does your body produce them as part of normal metabolism, there are also many external sources such as air pollution, alcohol, pesticides, sunlight, tobacco smoke, drugs and fried foods. Even our stressful lifestyles are related to excess oxidative stress.
That’s where antioxidants come in. Antioxidants are scavengers that neutralize free radicals. Although your body produces its own antioxidants, they are often insufficient to protect against the total oxidative stress we all experience. In fact, scientists have already linked free radicals to many different types of diseases.
Consuming a diet rich in natural antioxidants, like those that come from fruits and vegetables, may help protect against free radical damage.
I’m thinking that I probably could use an extra boost of those antioxidants too! This is where the recipe section on the POM Wonderful site could come in handy for me. Just because I don’t like to drink it, does not mean I can’t cook with it! Click here to check out these amazing recipes that include POM Wonderful as an ingredient. There were quite a few recipes that caught my eye and that I know I would love! I will be trying out some in the near future.
